God's superfood
I sometimes wonder if today’s hypervigilant focus on individual identity has consigned gratitude to society’s bottom draw. That place for the oddments that have no home, but we keep them just in case we need them one day. Has the pursuit of self-fulfillment and personal success bullied away the profound power released through giving thanks?
Gratitude is God’s superfood to humanity’s addiction to the sugar of self-interest. It widens the aspect ratio of our lives from what we lack to include what we’ve already received.
In this passage, Paul enjoins us to give thanks in all circumstances. This is not a vapid advisory to ignore the difficult and painful chapters of our lives but to recognize that God is not blind to our circumstances but is present in each one. That in Him there’s justice, deliverance, patience, and kindness. Gratitude fosters humility and trust as we promote others around us. When we appreciate the contributions and sacrifices of others, we build stronger and more just, trusting, and caring communities. How scarce these places have become of late.
Studies confirm that gratefulness reduces stress, improves health, and amplifies overall happiness. This aligns with biblical wisdom because a heart filled with thanksgiving is more resilient and content. As we daily embrace gratitude, we align ourselves with God’s will, develop a deeper love for each other, and find true fulfillment beyond the pursuit of personal gain.

About this Plan
You might be in a season of difficulties, challenges, and negativity, however, choosing to view our situation with a "glass half full" mindset is so important! “The choice to have an attitude of gratitude, or dwell on the difficulties, is ours. We can always choose the peace that comes with gratitude. What will you choose today?” (The Attitude of Gratitude by Abigail George)
