Deeply Rooted Part 2Sample
Foundations Are Important
When it comes to a root system, the right soil conditions of the heart are vital. Whatever goes in at the soil level, greatly affects the deeper foundation for good fruit-bearing potential. The outcome of each layer in the foundation depends on the right ingredients and in the right order with fertilizers, nutrition, insect prevention, and ultimately your harvest.
So, it is the same with the foundations of your inner spiritual root system, your inner world, and your personal relationship with God. Your soil should be soaked with God’s Word, marked by intimacy, developed in interdependence, and allowing for the seeds of faith to be cultivated.
In order for your soil and your root system to be conditioned for growth we must let it be fertilized with God’s Word. God’s truth is essential and crucial to building strength and stability.
I’ll never forget the year I studied Psalm 119. It took me over a year to write the psalm, all 176 verses in several translations. Then I’d pray over each verse, journal my thoughts, study the different words that stood out with compared versions, and try to apply it to my daily life. I let the psalm wash over my soul thoroughly. It sparked a fire in me to study other books of the Bible in the same way.
David describes the law of God as being his very foundation of faith which was built on Scripture. In the process of living out his faith, he was informed, strengthened, protected, and led by reading and knowing God’s Word. The root system God wants to build in our lives isn’t complete unless we faithfully trust in God, depend on the Holy Spirit, and develop intimacy with the Lord.
Then a deeper faith and trust will be grown and harvested. God will lead you through “trust tests” and deep-end experiences. He doesn’t expect us to know Him only through knowledge but also through our experiences.
Revelation of God in His Word searches out lovers and passes over the fringe observers, the skeptics, the religious, and the passive. God will bring a renewed strength by grace needed for every step. The foundation of faith produces an unshakable trust. As we meditate on His Word, we can feast on His truth, affirm our faith is genuine and experience His power through the real-time stories as they come alive.
About this Plan
A deeply rooted faith requires every believer to know God through His Word and by His power. The only way we can withstand the attacks of the enemy and the pressure of everyday life is by having our foundations on the solid bedrock of the Scriptures. God’s recorded revelation and words of truth have changed millions of people throughout history and is essential in developing a deep spiritual root system.
