31 Values to Pray for Your Kids

DAY 2 OF 31

Growth in Jesus

As parents, our deepest desire is to see our children flourish in every aspect of their lives, especially in their relationship with Jesus. We long for them to grow in wisdom, faith, and love, becoming all God has created them to be.

In 2 Peter 3:18, we are encouraged to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Just as plants need sunlight, water, and nutrients to thrive, our children need the nurturing presence of Jesus in their lives.

Ephesians 4:15 reminds us of the importance of speaking the truth in love so that we may grow up in every way into Christ. As our children encounter different challenges and experiences, we desire they remain rooted in love and truth, maturing in their faith, and becoming more like Jesus in their words and actions.

The parable of the sower in Luke 8:4-15 teaches us about the different types of soil and how they affect the growth of seeds. Your children represent the soil God has put in your garden; you are responsible for cultivating them to be ready for the harvest God wants to produce in them. We pray that our children will have hearts like good soil, ready to receive God's Word, and produce a fruitful harvest, but it also takes work on our part to show them how to have a relationship with Jesus.

Pray:

Father, in Jesus’ name, we lift our children to you, asking that you guide them as they grow in their relationship with Jesus. May they seek to know you more deeply and be filled with your grace. Help them to speak and live out the truth in love, growing in every way into the likeness of Christ. Protect their hearts and minds from anything hindering their spiritual growth, and let your Word take root in their lives, producing a bountiful harvest. We trust them into your loving hands, knowing you have a beautiful plan for their lives. We pray in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, amen.
