Advance: Living Unstuck & Moving Forward in FaithSample
Day 11: From Panic to Peace:
It is easy for our minds to slip into feelings of panic and fear. Thankfully, we are assured in Isaiah 26:3-4 (NIV) that, “you will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.” With God’s help, you can exchange thoughts of panic for the peace of God!
2 Corinthians 10:5 reminds us that we can take our thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ. How? By renewing our minds with the Word of God. Ephesians 4:23 (AMPC) is clear in instructing us “to be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude].” This is not a one-and-done thing. This is constant, continual renewal on a daily basis. God’s Word works to renovate our minds. Think of your favorite home renovation show and how you see a transformation take place from start to finish. God’s Word renovates our minds! It renews our souls. If you are struggling with thoughts of panic or fear, seek the ultimate renovation expert to renew your thoughts— God! Through His Word and guidance from the Holy Spirit, you can defeat those thoughts.
What are you feeding your mind? We must intentionally focus on feeding on His faithfulness. One of the ways you can do that is to get a couple of Scriptures, meditate on them daily, and then speak them out loud.
A great place to start is with Psalm 34:4 (NIV), which is a truth you can stand on: “I sought the Lord and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” The Lord wants to deliver you from the spirit of fear and panic. It doesn’t have to control you. You can have peace in your mind.
