Too Scared to Ask - Real Questions & Real Answer

DAY 5 OF 15

So, Is God Controlling?

A Quick Note

As you finish up this first portion, have you answered the question, “Is God controlling?” Write your thoughts about this out before you finish up this week!

Passage to Read

Exodus 6:1-8

Reflect

Did the reading for today sound familiar? It’s because you read it on Monday! But after looking at these questions throughout the week, you should have some thoughts about if God is controlling or not. Here are the questions we looked at this week: Why didn’t God make Pharaoh do his bidding? What did God want Moses to do? Who even was Pharaoh and why did God send all these plagues and basically dunk on him so hard? And how did an ordinary man, who had trouble speaking, lead the Hebrew people out of slavery and into the land that was promised to them?

So, is God controlling? It may look like it because this story is bonkers and it (**spoiler alert**) works out in the end. Finally after years of traveling, the second generation of Israelites get to enter the promised land. So everything worked out for God, right? So did He control all of that? God is in control, but not always controlling. He will get done what needs to be done, but He does allow the human race to make choices and then He uses them, good or bad, for His purpose!

Respond

After you've read the passage today grab a journal or open your notes. Take some time to reflect on today’s reading. Use the SOAP acronym to help you engage. (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer).

  • Scripture - What did you read?,
  • Observation - What did you learn?
  • Application - What will you do?
  • Prayer - Write out a prayer talking to God like a friend.
