DAY 2 OF 5

Trusting Jesus wholeheartedly means to trust Him even when it doesn’t feel like life makes sense. We don’t see the whole picture of our lives – often, we just see a small portion. But when we have confidence in God’s goodness, holiness, and authority – knowing that He knows and sees everything and is working it out for our good – we can trust Him even when we don’t understand.

In Numbers 13, Moses sent out twelve men to go explore the land God had promised them. Caleb and Joshua were two of those men – and they discovered that the land was more beautiful and bountiful than they could have imagined! Except for one small problem: there were giants. Not metaphorical giants, but actual real-life powerful giants. When the men got back to report what they’d seen, ten of the men could only focus on their fear of the giants. But Caleb and Joshua trusted in God, despite the giants they’d seen.

Later in Caleb’s life, he recounted this story and said, “I brought [Moses] back a report according to my convictions, but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.”

Even when it didn’t make sense to Him, Caleb chose to follow God wholeheartedly. He gave God his heart because He trusted in God’s character.

What’s an area of your life where it feels like it doesn’t make sense? How can you choose to trust God wholeheartedly in spite of that?
