10 Pillars : Building a Life in God

DAY 4 OF 10

The Sabbath Rest. The eternal God imposed a special day of rest on the Israelites, a mandatory law for these people. It is a day of REST and adoration of the Living God. This day is reserved for enjoying God!

The Sabbath is celebrated from Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon, which is the time God designated. We cannot change the time or days of the Sabbath; the Jews have celebrated it since then and continue to do so to this day! How can this be important to us?

  • I would like you to think and meditate about the following:
  • How much time do you work per day?
  • How long are you busy or busy each day?
  • How much time do you spend on your pleasure?
  • How much of your time is occupied with occupational things?
  • How much time do you spend reading the word?
  • How long are you quoting for God?
  • What is the day when you spend your time with God?

Progress can make us antisocial; progress can deprive us of our time to rest in God. In all of this, we are relaying God to the last place!

The time we spend with God is the most important of our lives! Life comes from God, and if we want to extend it, we must spend more time with God.

We have time for everything else, but rarely a time apart for God. We find a tiny slot to fit God in our program, but God is never the centre of our agenda.

How can we love someone but not want to spend with the person? This is not loving and looks more like a 'necessity,' a 'requirement,' or even a religious act.

I urge you to set aside time for God. Do not let your life unfold without time dedicated to God.

Let us restore God's place! Have a Sabbath! Return to God's rest.
