Ask Seek Knock

DAY 3 OF 3

Have you ever had a friend who was horrible at following through? Or have you ever been the friend who was horrible at following through? I believe I have experienced both of these. When I was younger I had a roommate and we had a lot of fun together, but there was a particular day when I may have been the worst roommate of all time. We shared one key to the apartment and I locked up the apartment after he left and decided to take a nap. He came home about an hour later and couldn’t get in, and I was in a beautiful, deep, REM sleep. He knocked on the door, kicked the door, called me, spam texted me, but nothing woke me up. I woke up about an hour later to a book of texts, and 3000 calls, (I may be being dramatic,) so I opened the door and he was sitting on the floor next to our door. I may have been the worst friend on planet Earth at this point, but he definitely didn’t give up on knocking to get into what was his.

My roommate needed to get into his apartment, and I had the keys.

My roommate needed what was his, but he couldn't have it without getting my attention.

Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

After asking God for His will to be done, seeking first Jesus, now it is time for us to be consistent in knocking.

What happens is we “knock.” for a week and stop because we believe God isn’t going to open the door, but through this devotional, I pray you understand, that God is not on your time clock. We see throughout scripture people being persistent in knocking for the door to open, for years, hundreds of years.

If your roommate locks you out of what is yours, you wouldn’t stop knocking until the door opens.

Keep knocking, keep praying out loud, keep serving when no one is watching, keep writing when no one reads, keep posting when no one likes it, and keep honoring your pastor when you don’t see anyone else doing it.

Your promise is on the other side of your faithfulness.

Dan 2

About this Plan

Ask Seek Knock

In our current time, we hear a lot of ways to get what we want, pursue dreams, and to "get ours," but in Matthew 7 Jesus gives a clear picture of how to walk in a lifestyle of prayer and relationship with Him. In this three-day devotional, we will walk together on how to establish a foundational relationship with Jesus through prayer.
