Ask Seek Knock

DAY 1 OF 3

Asking someone for something can be hard. Have you ever had to ask your waitress to send your food back because it was undercooked? This couldn’t be any more awkward, because you know they didn’t cook it! Or how about asking your wife for a new pair of shoes when you already have 10 pairs? Sounds a lot like my life! I recently was in a wedding and knew I needed a new pair of sneakers for the wedding and wanted to get my all-time favorite pair and through my journey with my wife I finally figured out how to ask her for something: Ask her with the right tone and posture! If I came at her demanding shoes, that wouldn’t end well, If I came at her crying for the shoes, she would ask If I needed to go back to daycare, but If I asked her with a soft voice, she would probably say yes because my wife typically talks in a gentle, soft voice. My wife would listen to me because we would be speaking at the same frequency.

I believe Prayer can be a lot like my wife and me. We keep demanding things as If God is a vending machine where if we just type in the right things, He will give us a treat when we are not speaking in the same frequency.

Ask, and it will be given to you.

For everyone who asks, receives.

Our loving Father has amazing gifts for His kids, but He is not a genie in a bottle where we can ask for a billion dollars, and it will appear in our bank account. (Wouldn't hurt to try though!)

God hears your prayers, and through hours, not minutes, you will begin to distinguish His voice, His will, and His gifts.

Asking God for something is easy when you are speaking at the same frequency, with patience, peace, stillness, and quiet.

Today, instead of going through your shopping list with God, sit with Him, asking for His presence, asking Him for peace, Be in communion with Him and you will continue to find the right questions to ask.

Dan 2

About this Plan

Ask Seek Knock

In our current time, we hear a lot of ways to get what we want, pursue dreams, and to "get ours," but in Matthew 7 Jesus gives a clear picture of how to walk in a lifestyle of prayer and relationship with Him. In this three-day devotional, we will walk together on how to establish a foundational relationship with Jesus through prayer.
