Joy in Endurance

DAY 2 OF 7

We have four choices when circumstances say “panic” or “overwhelmed.”

1. Run around like a ball bouncing from one wall to the next.

2. Feverishly work on the problem ourselves.

3. Freeze and do nothing.

4. Rest in the Lord and let Him direct our path.

The fourth option describes endurance – staying under the protection of the Lord God, and in His presence; listening to Him as He directs our paths.

Psalm 91:1, although encouraging and uplifting, is not describing a one-shot deal. It says, “those who dwell or live in the shelter of the Most High.” If we live there – and refuse to run out on our own and panic, we will “find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

Our emotions and mind scream, We can’t just sit here. We have to DO SOMETHING!

But our Most High God wants us to stay under Him and find rest. This is a beautiful picture of what Biblical endurance really is. Jesus said, “He who endures to the end will be saved.” It can be paraphrased as, “He who remains in me, stays under me, and stays behind with me will be saved.”

What would our lives look like if we abandoned all our fruitless effort, and endured in His grace and power?
