Day Two
God Can Carry That
Scripture: Psalm 55:22; Isaiah 46:4; Mark 15:16-39
Kingdom Key: The Lord will lighten your load.
I’m overworked. I’m overwhelmed. I’m over it. My never-ending to-do list is in competition with matters of my heart. From my family, work, and school to my own personal issues—I’m pulled in every direction, and there’s always something that’s left to do. There’s no way I can keep on going like this. I’m backpacking up a slippery slope, and I’m tired of trudging without gaining any ground. No one on earth can handle the weight of how I feel.
—signed, the girl with a lot of baggage
Hey girl,
I may not be able to feel your pain, but I can direct you to the One who experienced it all: Jesus. In carrying that splintered cross, Christ carried the sins of humanity on the long road of sorrow to Golgotha. He knows all too well what it feels like to trudge on with crippling pressure.
He paid the debt for our sins and still wants to take on every single thing we struggle with today.
So tell me: If God can carry the weight of the world on His shoulders, can’t He carry yours?
The Lord will lighten your load; He can handle the heftiness. Turn your written to-do lists into spoken cries to your Father. Allow Him to carry your hurts, your burdens, your heart. He wants it all today, tomorrow, the next day, and the next year. He wants it whenever you feel you can handle it and whenever you feel you can’t. He still wants it all so that He can get to you.
Here are words straight from God to you: “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.’”
—Matthew 11:28–30, NLT
Let’s Pray: Heavenly Father, I don’t want to carry all of this anymore. My back is aching, and my heart needs a break. Father, my soul is yearning for the rest only You can give. I collapse under my burdens, but today I cling to You. In Jesus’s name, amen.
