Putting Others First
In John 19:25-27, it says that just a few hours before the crucifixion, Jesus taught his disciples a lesson on servanthood by washing their feet, humbly serving others. Now even in his final hours on earth, He was still thinking about the needs of others. He was also making sure Mary was taken care of. In this selfless act of love, He was putting the needs of others before His own. We can often be preoccupied with our needs being met that we don’t see the needs of others. Let Jesus open up our eyes to see those around us that are grieving, hurting, lonely, without hope and let us as followers of Jesus show them the love and care they need.
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for there are times when I’m so focused on my own needs that I have failed to see the opportunities where I could be a blessing to others. Open my eyes to see what you see and feel what you feel. Stir my heart to not only pray but act upon Your word. Thank you for your grace and mercy. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
