When God Speaks
In John 19:25-27 and Luke 2:16-20, it says that the angel Gabriel visited the young Mary with a message from God. At Bethlehem, in the manger, the shepherds found Jesus lying in the manger with a word from God. Then at the temple, in the presence of Mary, Simeon spoke words about Jesus. Anna, the prophetess, spoke of Jesus, declaring He is the Saviour. Mary must have treasured up all these words spoken of Jesus and pondered in her heart. For all that she witnessed during Jesus’ ministry, she must have praised God for His faithfulness, But here in John 19:25, at Calvary came her greatest test of faith. Did she doubt those words spoken of Jesus as she watched her son crucified on the cross? When God speaks, be confident that God will accomplish and fulfill every promise He has for us in our lives. We can share Mary’s joy when she is told that the tomb is empty and Jesus is alive! The things she had pondered and treasured in her heart for over 30 years were now fulfilled! It will come to pass.
Prayer: Father, let us never doubt the promises You have for us. Increase our faith to believe and trust in You even when it seems impossible. Even when we’re faithless, You remain faithful. My refuge and my strength, I trust in You, Amen.
