Welcome to Your New LifeSample
I bet you have a very specific idea that comes to mind when the word prayer gets mentioned, but did you know that prayer is just talking with God? You don’t need to be in a certain place or do it at specific times (although setting a routine can be helpful). Just like a phone call to a friend, God is waiting on the other end of the line to answer your call.
In Exodus 33:11 the Bible tells us that God would meet with Moses and speak to Him like a friend. I'm sure you are thinking, "well I’m not Moses", but the thing is it that God still sees you as His friend. He wants you to share all of your thoughts, your concerns, and your requests with Him. There is not one area of your life that God is not willing to listen to, and help you with. That’s right! It’s not a one sided conversation with God. Just like when you talk to a friend, and they share their advice, and wisdom God does too, and He has the best advice!
Here are a few tips and recommendations:
- Get into the habit of praying out loud. (If you have a hard time with this, try turning on some worship music.)
- Start a prayer journal. (Write your prayers out, and keep track of the outcome. You can even date them. It is fun to be able to look back on the prayers that God has answered and to see the ones that are still in progress. This will build your faith.)
- Remember, your words do not need to be perfect to be able to pray. (What matters is the heart behind the prayer. God knows your heart, and can hear the sound of faith.)
