[Confident Series] Confidence Instead Of Burden Sample

[Confident Series] Confidence Instead Of Burden

DAY 2 OF 5

Confident in Oneself

When our hearts are filled with Christ’s love for us, we can be confident in ourselves. We can be confident in the gifting and abilities that God has given us. We can be confident in ourselves because God loves us. The reservoirs of our hearts are not filled by money, success, or even church attendance. The reservoirs of our hearts are filled by the rain of God’s love.

The confidence in oneself that is based on Christ’s love is not pride or arrogance. On the contrary, prideful and arrogant people are quite insecure in themselves. It is this deep secret insecurity that drives them to pride, arrogance, and self-promotion. People who truly believe in God’s love for them are confident in themselves and are able to freely love others. As C. S. Lewis famously put it: “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.” The less we worry about proving our own worth, the more we are able to freely care for others and the world around us. The rain of God’s love and salvation must fall into our hearts first. Then, we will be secure enough to love others.

When we are filled with God’s love, we are able to truly understand ourselves. Being confident in God’s love, we become an authentic gift to the world around us. In Christ, we know exactly who God created us to be and what He gifted us with. We are able to function fully in our divine calling when we have true confidence in our God-given abilities. This is a blessing to the Church and a blessing to the world. We need to know God’s love for us. Then, we will be confident to remain the person He has determined for us to be, no matter what. People confident in God’s love for them do not give into peer pressure or worry about the opinions of others. Each person was born an original; no one should die a copy.

When our hearts are filled with God’s love for us, we bless other people. You can be a better mom after you have had your quiet time. A father can be a better parent when he spends quality time with the Lord. A lot of us are running on empty in our family lives or at work. We will be better selves, more confident and more loving, when we fill the reservoirs of our hearts with the Word and the love of God.

About this Plan

[Confident Series] Confidence Instead Of Burden

How do we live a victorious Christian life in this sinful world? In the first devotional plan from the Confident Series, we learn about God’s rain of salvation that fills the reservoirs of our hearts. These reservoirs overflow into rivers of love to others as we live a life of confidence in God, His Holy Spirit, and ourselves.
