The Future Will Write Your HistorySample
DAY 5
DEVOTIONAL – KEYS TO BUILDING A LEGACY
In order to leave a legacy, you need to forge your own history with God. No one can transfer his or her history and journey in God to you. Each one has to develop their own deep walk with God. Everyone’s character will be tested in the crucible of crises.
HERE ARE SOME KEYS THAT WILL HELP IN YOUR LEGACY BUILDING.
PRESENCE – I cannot emphasize this more. We need to stick close to Jesus every day. Practice his presence as a lifestyle.
"Relying on God has to start all over every day as if nothing has yet been done." –C. S. Lewis
The further we put our roots down in him, the better the fruit of our lives will be. Your daily quiet time is very, very important. It starts as a discipline but it will soon become a delight.
PROVIDENCE – Know that God’s favor rests upon you. He is your provider and will give you more than you can ask or imagine.
“God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supplies.” –Hudson Taylor
PERSPECTIVE – Do not live just for today or for the next 5 years. Where do you see yourself when you are 70? Where do you see yourself in eternity? You have some great rewards awaiting you. Every time you do something that pleases God, he is crediting your heavenly account. He does not have to. That he saves us in enough. However, He is a good, good father who is lavish with His love.
PURPOSE – Do not be a drifter. Before you know it, five years have gone by and you will have little to show for it. Have goals. If you fail to plan, you will plan to fail. Have goals for your personal, professional, family, spiritual life. God is interested in all of our lives. There is no religious and secular divide in our life. We seek His kingdom ways in everything that we do.
Our greatest fear should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.” –Francis Chan
PASSION – Put your might behind everything you do. Do it as unto God.
“If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, If you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” –Martin Luther King Jr.
Passion can only be sustained and fueled in the presence of God.
So let us live this life worthy of our calling in Jesus. I am praying that this study will inspire you to become a legacy builder. You can start building a legacy no matter how young or old you are today. Whose lives will you invest in, in order to leave a lasting legacy?
Today’s choices will be tomorrow’s fruit. Let us fight the good fight of faith and not give up or get tired of doing good because what we build will be a legacy that will last forever and one day the future will write our history.
About this Plan
As Christ-followers we are all called to make an impact on our generation and leave a legacy behind. It is intrinsic in the Great Commission. A legacy is left in people, not institutions. We hope this 5-day devotional written by Navaz D'Cruz will inspire you to begin building toward a legacy that will live beyond you.
