The Future Will Write Your History

DAY 1 OF 5

 DAY 1

DEVOTIONAL - LEAVING A LEGACY

As a Christ-follower for over four decades, I have seen quite a variety of expressions of the Christian faith, varying degrees of passion for Christ and styles of leadership. At the end of life’s journey, we all need to answer this one question: Did I live well and did I live out my purpose? I believe there is something in this devotion for everyone – a new believer, a not so young Christ-follower and a seasoned Christian.

What will the future say about you?  It is important to check what we are investing our time in.

Jim Elliot said, “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose!” Jim had such an amazing passion, dedication and focus to go and share the gospel with the Auca Indians in South America only to have been murdered the by ones he dedicated his life to serving.  His wife went on to continue what he has started thus leaving behind a rich legacy. Now before you say I am no Jim Elliot, remember that if you have put your faith in Jesus, you have a purpose, a passion and a perspective that ends in eternity.

We will all leave a legacy behind us whether we intend to or not. So the question is what legacy will you leave behind?

Today I want you to think about what you are living for. Do you have a goal for this new decade? Do you have a strategy for how you are going to get there? Do not wait to make a New Year’s resolution. Start today!

Write down your dreams in a journal. Write down a rough plan on how you want to get there.

This study will help you look at the importance of your purpose to our destiny and legacy building.  We will look at some keys to living in a way that will help you leave a rich legacy.

About this Plan

The Future Will Write Your History

As Christ-followers we are all called to make an impact on our generation and leave a legacy behind. It is intrinsic in the Great Commission. A legacy is left in people, not institutions. We hope this 5-day devotional written by Navaz D'Cruz will inspire you to begin building toward a legacy that will live beyond you.
