DAY 16 OF 365

Stewardship and True Riches

Genesis 39:4, 20-22; 41:41
“Potiphar put him [Joseph] in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned…while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him;…he was made responsible for all that was done there…So Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.’”

Luke 16:11
"So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?"

Joseph proved himself trustworthy in Potiphar’s house and the prison, and eventually in managing all of Egypt. However, his most important stewardship was the presence of God, who was with him and gave him favor in all he did.

When given positions of authority or worldly wealth, are we aware that God is proving and testing our character and gifts for greater assignments in his kingdom?

The true riches of the kingdom include salvation, character, faith and the opportunity to lead people to salvation and the worship of the Living God. Jesus' announcement of the gospel of the kingdom in Luke 4:18-19 included the anointing of the Holy Spirit, spiritual authority, healing power and God’s favor. These true riches bring God’s kingdom rule to human hearts.

Are we passing the stewardship and financial tests so that God can give us the true riches of the Kingdom?

Lord Jesus, I desire to be a faithful steward of all you’ve given me to do and care for, so that your true riches could be entrusted to me in greater measure for your kingdom mission and glory.
