Always This or Better: How to Uplevel Your Value and Step Into Your MORE

DAY 4 OF 10

Whether you accept the counterfeit is a test of whether you truly believe your value because if you do, you will know that your value—and God’s promises—demand that you’re worth the wait.

Your value is calling you higher, and God’s promises to you are provided to you because you are God’s chosen. God calls you His chosen generation, His royal priesthood, and His holy nation. God designated this for you simply because He loves you.

God wants your own perception of your value to align with His because, after all, He paid a significant price for you. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 2:9 that you are so valuable to Him that He chose not to leave you where you were; instead, He saved you.

Jesus shows us how to decline the counterfeit and reinforce God’s value for us in Matthew 4 . Jesus had been “fasting in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights and was hungry” when . . . “the tempter came to him and said. . . .” You’re most likely to be presented with a counterfeit offer when you’re feeling the effects of waiting, and it will begin with words from the enemy.

In this story of Jesus in the wilderness being tempted by Satan, it all starts with the enemy saying something. When you are presented with any opportunity or offer, you must test the spirit by the spirit by comparing what you’re hearing being offered to the Word of God.

Each time He was tempted, Jesus’ first action in response to the enemy was to say, “it is written.” He was able to quickly rebuke the enemy and decline the offer simply because it didn’t align with the Word of God.

When you look at the offers the enemy presented to Jesus, there is a common theme. Each time the enemy spoke to Jesus, the underlying challenge was for Jesus to discount His value by “proving” He was the Son of God and trading His rightful position for less than.

The counterfeit will manufacture what you want and tempt you to settle.

The enemy wanted Jesus to step out of His rightful place of Kingship. He wanted Jesus to prove His value. But Jesus was already King of Kings, and He didn’t have to prove anything that He already had—and neither do you.

Today’s Affirmation:

My steps are righteous, as I have been called to be righteous. I have been called into this or better, and my steps are going higher and higher. He has given me feet like hinds’ feet, and I am easily able to navigate past the challenges while being brought to the best vantage points of life. It is always this or better for me.
