Stress Less: 9 Practices That Build Resilience God's Way

DAY 5 OF 11

Audit Your Thoughts

Not every thought deserves space in your mind. Stress often feeds on lies—like “I’m not good enough” or “This will never get better.” But God calls us to replace lies with truth.

Our thoughts shape our emotions and actions. Left unchecked, negative thoughts can spiral into anxiety and despair. That’s why Paul urges us to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.

Start by identifying recurring negative thoughts. Are they aligned with Scripture? If not, counter them with God’s promises. For example, replace “I’m not enough” with “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).

Renewing your mind is a process, but with practice, it becomes easier. As you audit your thoughts today, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Let God’s truth reshape your thinking and bring peace to your soul.

Cultivating a practice of daily reflection can help keep your thoughts in check. At the end of each day, review your thought patterns. Were they life-giving or draining? Surrender any lingering negativity to God in prayer, and wake up ready to embrace His truth anew.

Negative thought patterns often feel ingrained, but God’s Word equips us to break free. Meditate on passages that affirm your identity in Christ and His promises for your life. As you replace lies with truth, you’ll experience a transformation in how you handle stress and approach challenges.
