God's Redemption Story (Revelation)

DAY 8 OF 40

God Calls Us to Repentance - Day 8

When sin entered the world, the earth began to deteriorate. God has been holding everything together for millennia, but he will eventually let us have our way and let the earth come unglued. Earthquakes, wild weather, stars, and meteors fall from the sky. Revelation 6 tells us all people—world leaders, soccer moms, tech geniuses, sweatshop workers, Asians, South Americans, and Eskimos—will try to escape into caves and beneath the ground. Everyone will recognize God’s power. But instead of turning to him with repentant hearts, they’ll try to hide from him.

This brings up two critical points. First, we can’t hide from God. He created us and knows our hearts and thoughts, even if we’re in a cave. Second, hiding is about fear, but our mighty God is about love. Instead of running away, we need to repent of our sins and run toward God. His arms are open and waiting to give us love and care.
