The Way to Follow Jesus According to the Gospel of LukeSample
Day 2 – Luke 2
From Humility to Glory
It is unfathomable to think that God could somehow manifest Himself in human form. And yet, here is Jesus born in humble circumstances making an entrance into humanity very much unlike anything you would expect from the arrival of the Heavenly Lord and King of the universe!
“… rather He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross! Therefore, God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in Heaven and on earth ad under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” - Phil 2:7-11.
This is the way God works. He takes what is humble and lowly and raises it up to a place of exaltation!
Perhaps you feel at times as though your life is hidden away in obscurity. It may be hard to imagine that within your humble circumstances, anything noteworthy will ever come about. Don’t doubt what God can do!
He made you for a purpose and calls you His masterpiece. He’s already prepared the good works for you to do (Ephesians 2:10). And as you faithfully carry them out, you will be honored by giving glory to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Take a moment and think about the good works God has pre-ordained for you. Are you aware of them and are you faithfully carrying them out?
