The Way to Follow Jesus According to the Gospel of Luke

DAY 6 OF 24

Day 6 - Luke 6

Obeying Jesus’ Teachings

Jesus went up to a mountain alone and prayed all night. The next morning, He chose twelve of His followers to be His apostles.

At the foot of the mountain, crowds of people from all over Israel came to hear Jesus teach and to be healed of diseases. I wonder if people were surprised and disappointed in what they heard?

It’s not likely they were expecting to hear that living within God’s kingdom rule meant they would suffer persecution. And that they could rejoice because of it? Or that if you are rich, prosperous, happy and praised by others, it’s going to bring sorrow? That you should love your enemies, be generous toward them and not judge? And that your behavior in life, good or evil, is the result of what’s been growing on the inside of you?

Then Jesus makes all His teachings very clear. Either do them and you can call Him Lord and have a solid foundation to withstand the storms of life. Or don’t obey them and your life will collapse in a heap of ruins.

How well are you doing in obeying these teachings of Jesus?
