DAY 4 OF 5

BEAUTIFUL DAYS AHEAD

My diagnosis of breast cancer was the most fear-filled thing I have ever walked through. As I went through treatment, I continued to lead worship when I had the energy. To be honest, it helped me just to make the Word of God louder than the fear and doubt rolling around in my head. But I noticed that over time I stopped shouting it out. In worship I had begun to retreat to places that required little faith, as I was nervous to raise my voice to align my life to the truth of God’s Word. Evil had silenced me. The day I realised this, I was shocked at how intimidated by the enemy I had become.

Exodus 14:13 says, “Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.’”

Stand firm. Do not be afraid.

I began to see that I needed to fall on my knees and surrender to the plans that God was working together in my life for my good and His glory. I had to dig deep and re-engage with what I knew to be true.

At times in life, silence and solitude are necessary to fellowship with Jesus, to turn down the noise of this world and sit in the nearness of God. But there are also times when a prophetic shout is needed to loudly verbalise what we know is true of God, regardless of the circumstances or our emotions.

My encouragement to you today is this: You may be facing a situation in your life where you too have sat down and gone quiet in the pain. Moses, who was once so insecure that he told God he couldn’t speak out, was later in life able to remind the Israelites that they did not need to be afraid. Maybe it’s time for you to stand again and speak out the truth of God’s Word over your life. Maybe it’s time to shout God’s goodness! To rest in His kindness. To trust in His love. There are beautiful days ahead filled with the miraculous as we take obedient steps one at a time.

Lord, give me the courage to shout Your goodness! To believe in Your victory! You are stronger than my circumstances, my emotions, and my fears. Amen.
