Walk This WaySample
God Is With Us
In the heart of Psalm 23, we find this incredible Scripture that resonates deeply with all people. The reality is we will all walk through different valleys in our lives. Maybe you just came out of a difficult season, you may be about to enter a season of difficulty, or maybe you are currently walking through a valley in your life. We will all experience challenging times of grief, loss, disappointment, and fear. It is easy to feel isolated in these moments as if we are walking alone. However, this verse teaches us that we are not abandoned even in our darkest hours. Psalm 23:4 provides an incredibly comforting truth for those in Christ Jesus. Our Good Shepherd promises to be with us in the valley; because of that truth, we need not fear.
God’s companionship is a great source of strength. When we acknowledge His presence, we can face our fears with courage. He walks with us, guiding us through the valleys. In this Psalm, David mentions God’s “rod and staff,” symbols of protection and guidance. The rod is a tool used by shepherds to defend their flock against predators, while the staff is used to guide and rescue sheep when they stray. This picture reassures us that God defends us against evil and lovingly guides us back to safety when we wander. His tools are instruments of comfort, reminding us that we are under His care.
As we walk through our own valleys, we are called to embrace faith over fear. Our circumstances may feel overwhelming and never-ending, but we must remind ourselves of the ever-important truth that God is with us. We can choose to trust in His goodness and faithfulness. For our Good Shepherd promises never to leave us or forsake us.
Reflect & Pray
Heavenly Father, thank you for the promise of Your presence in the valleys of my life. Help me to remember that I need not fear, for You are with me. Equip me with the faith to trust in Your guidance and protection, even when I can’t see the way ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
Throughout time, and especially in the Bible, the word “walk” has been used as a metaphor to describe the course, cadence, and overall spiritual direction of our lives. From the Garden of Eden to the present day, part of God’s redemptive call and work is teaching His children to “walk this way,” giving direction, counsel, and guidance to our steps. One thing is clear: He cares how we live our lives and desires that we journey through this life in a way that counts.
