Walk This Way

DAY 9 OF 30

Walk in Truth

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by life’s challenges and unsure where to turn? What do you do when trouble surrounds you? The reality is that trouble, trials, or tribulations will come because we live in a fallen and broken world; trouble is knocking at our door. David is in trouble as he writes this psalm, but instead of asking God to get him out of the situation, David wants God to teach him how to walk through in a way that honors and glorifies the Lord. If we continually look at our situations as things to get out of, we will miss the blessing of growing our faith in the Lord and being used by Him. Instead of seeking a way out, seek the Lord for a way through (Psalm 23), ask Him to unite your heart with His, for the Lord is “merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth” (Psalm 86:15).

David’s devotion to the Lord is rooted in the promises of the Lord. David knows the Lord’s grace is greater than any sin or situation we face. David understands that when the Lord’s influence in our life is small, our sins and situations will overwhelm us. When our lives are grounded in the Lord’s grace, the greatness of grace allows us to face our sins and situations with confidence.

As trials come your way, seek the will of the Father, trust the process of His plan, that He will provide, and that He has the power to equip you to be faithful. Our one true obstacle is our pride, but when we look to the Lord and His strength, we must let go of pride and trust His way is better. In pride, we fear, but in humility, we have strength, His strength. This is how we will go through the trial, bring glory to the Lord, and grow deep in our faith. Identify one area of your life where you need God’s guidance this week and commit to praying Psalm 86:11 daily.

Reflect & Pray

Father, today I want to express my gratitude for Your goodness and grace and acknowledge that it is greater than any sin or situation I face. Father, I humbly ask that You help me to trust Your provision through the Holy Spirit and “unite my heart to fear Your name” today, giving me the wisdom to live for Your glory. Lord, equip me with Your strength to walk in Your truth and be confident in Your presence, power, and provision. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

Walk This Way

Throughout time, and especially in the Bible, the word “walk” has been used as a metaphor to describe the course, cadence, and overall spiritual direction of our lives. From the Garden of Eden to the present day, part of God’s redemptive call and work is teaching His children to “walk this way,” giving direction, counsel, and guidance to our steps. One thing is clear: He cares how we live our lives and desires that we journey through this life in a way that counts.
