Journey Through the Book of JohnSample
Voice of the Shepherd
Jesus, the Good Shepherd, reassures us of His constant care and protection. A shepherd is one who directs, guides, leads, and protects those in their care. Jesus is precisely this to all who choose to follow Him. In a world full of uncertainties, we can take refuge in His promises to guide and provide for all our needs. Reflect on the peace and comfort that comes from knowing you are His, cherished, and loved by Him.
In a world where voices can be loud and confusing, Jesus, the Good Shepherd, speaks directly to our hearts. This chapter highlights two voices speaking to the sheep. One is the voice of our Good Shepherd, Jesus. The other is the voice of a hireling. A hireling is one who tends to the sheep for selfish reasons, seeking personal gain. The hireling is plainly described frankly as a thief and a robber. Which voice are you choosing to listen to?
So, lean in close and listen for His whispers, and let Him guide you to the abundant life He promises. He knows us intimately and leads us into paths of righteousness. Allow His voice to lead you in every decision, trusting that He desires only the best for you. Declare, “I hear the voice of my Shepherd!” Then obey what He reveals to you. As you follow His lead, share your experiences with others, encouraging them to listen for His voice and trust His guidance. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you discern the voice of your Shepherd. What is He whispering to you right now?
