DAY 3 OF 5

God with us
God with us
We make room for you
We long for you to come, Come Lord Jesus

Prepare/Be still

Get comfortable. Breathe in slowly. How are you today? Name your desires before the Lord.

Consider

This season, we can easily allow our lives to become too full for the very One we are celebrating. Just as there was no room in the inn for Jesus at His birth, we can unintentionally crowd Him out of our lives with the busyness of the season, work, our responsibilities, and distractions.

Advent is a time to intentionally prepare room for Jesus, not just in the celebrations but in everyday life. Where might you need to make more room for Him—in your thoughts, habits, or priorities? How can you create space for His peace, love, and presence to fill your life in deeper ways during this season?

Meditate

Where is God asking you to make space for Him in this Advent season?

Where does your life feel crowded? Where does it feel open and spacious?

Where do you sense Jesus’ presence the most? The least?

Activate

  • Consider the rhythm of your day. Try taking 10 minutes to read Scripture, pray, or sit in silence, reminding yourself that the Lord is with you.
  • Notice your tendency to either fill your day with activity or empty your day of activity. Pay attention to how your physical body is responding to your current schedule. Are you bored? Overextended? Longing for more or less activity? Where do you need more balance? Take a step towards that today.
  • Imagine the Father, Son, and Spirit sitting with you in your favorite place. What do you notice? Spend some time in a physical space or with people who remind you that Jesus is with you.
  • Imagine the Lord walking beside you throughout your day. During your ordinary daily activities, you can share your thoughts, feelings, and actions with Him in prayer.

About this Plan

Royal Son

A 5-day devotional based on the song “Royal Son.” Each day will include a space for stillness, Scripture, considering a devotional thought, pondering questions, and activating what you just read with practical next steps. Because this is considered an Advent/Christmas song, some suggestions will pertain to the Christmas holiday.
