Horizon Church December Bible Reading Plan - Christmas Advent: Jesus, Come

DAY 23 OF 31

Prince of Peace, Come

The promise of Christmas is not just about a baby in a manger but about the Prince of Peace who was given to us—a peace that transcends our circumstances and offers restoration to our broken world. Jesus came to bring peace, not just as a concept, but as a living, breathing reality in the world.

In a world full of division, strife, and uncertainty, the announcement of Jesus as the Prince of Peace is a welcome message. His peace is not the temporary peace that the world offers, which can easily be disturbed by conflicts or external circumstances. Instead, His peace is a deep, lasting calm that touches our hearts and souls. It’s peace with God, peace with others, and peace within ourselves.

In Luke 2:14, when the angels announced Jesus’ birth, they declared, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom His favour rests.” This declaration was not just about the absence of conflict, but the presence of God’s favour. True peace comes when we are reconciled to God through the work of Jesus on the cross. It is the peace of knowing that we are secure in His love no matter what happens in the world around us.

In Philippians 4:7, the apostle Paul reminds us that the peace of God, “which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This peace goes beyond our comprehension, beyond what we can manufacture on our own. It’s a gift from God that guards us, strengthens us, and provides an inner stillness even in the midst of life's storms.

This Christmas, we are invited to reflect on the profound gift of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. He came to restore what was broken, heal what was wounded, and make us whole. In Him, we find peace that is steadfast, a peace that is ours to embrace, both now and forevermore.
