New Beginnings

The world is broken and full of sin, but God sent his son Jesus to be sacrificed on the cross so that we may have a new life in God. With our new life in Christ, God calls us to live differently than the broken world. To be set apart.

This is incredible news for all of us! Before, we were hopelessly enslaved to the sin that plagued our lives, but through Jesus' sacrifice, we are now freed from that sin. So what does that mean? We have a clean slate to start over. To begin fresh.

Now that we have a new life in Christ, God calls us to live differently than the rest of the world. That doesn’t mean our life magically changes. We still live in a broken world with broken people.

The first step of being set apart is to change the way we’ve previously lived our lives. This could mean many different things. Speaking in a way that honors God, respecting our parents and authorities, letting go of sinful choices, or even letting go of our relationships that pull us away from God.

This can seem overwhelming, but don’t worry! We read in Romans 6 that thanks to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead, we, too, are no longer bound to sin. Before, you had no choice in your brokenness, but now God makes a way for us to choose the higher path. The path that he calls us to follow.

Will you mess up? Absolutely. Is it fun? Not always. BUT God’s love and forgiveness never runs out. Living Set Apart starts with making one good decision a day over a lifetime.
