Warrior's MeditationSample
Joshua was a man who loved God's presence, and the Book of the Law was always close to the ark of the presence (Exodus 33:10-11; Deuteronomy 31:9-11; Deuteronomy 31:24-26). With that in mind, the presence of God turned the written Word into revelation in Joshua's heart. Hence, God's Word on Joshua's lips carried supernatural power, enabling Joshua's words to shift things in the natural and supernatural realms (Joshua 10:12-14).
The ark of the covenant represents God's presence. It is a type and shadow of the Holy Spirit, who now dwells within believers. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, wisdom, and revelation. He constantly unlocks the depth of the Word and brings us into realms of illumination as we meditate on it with His help.
In addition, meditating on the Word with the help of the Holy Spirit reminds me of Genesis 1:2-3. The scriptures say, "The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light." The Spirit of God moved before God spoke. In the same light, we need the Spirit of God to open our spiritual understanding of God's Word so we can shift things in the spiritual and physical realms when we speak God's Word.
My brothers and sisters, we need the baptism and continuous infilling of the Holy Spirit for God’s Word to become Spirit and life on our lips. That's why Jesus said, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63 (NKJV)
Meditating on God’s Word with the help of the Holy Spirit takes us beyond the realm of mental assent into a realm of experiential knowledge of God's Word. If you want to explore this, pray this: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Your Word says you will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask you. I ask for your Holy Spirit to dwell in me and come upon me this moment in the name of Jesus.
Practice: Look up the Verse of the Day here in the Bible app and say with all your heart, "Holy Spirit, my name is (insert your name); I acknowledge you as my Helper. Help me understand this scripture so I can grow in my relationship with the Father and Jesus Christ." Then, repeat the Verse of the day several times (Minimum of 5 minutes), expecting the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual understanding. Take 5 minutes to be still and write what the Holy Spirit reveals.
