DAY 6 OF 12

Following The WAY Means He Is With Us All The Way

Following Jesus means we take the narrow way instead of the broad way. The narrow way is rightly called that because it involves choosing to do the things that please God and live in a way that honours Him. This way will require that you periodically die to your own desires and ambitions and follow where God leads you. The broad way entails a life where anything goes. You can live however you choose, make decisions that work for you personally, and do what brings you pleasure. Jesus was very clear when He taught His followers that the narrow gate leads to eternal life while the broad gate leads to destruction.

The interesting thing though, is that the narrow way that Jesus calls us on is a highway where there are surprising twists and turns, unexpected highs and lows, and unusual dry patches followed by lush expanses. Even when we stand at life’s dead ends, wilderness roads, tombstones or cliff edges, God is with us. No season of our lives does He leave us to fend for ourselves. He doesn't leave us to meander off on our own unless we deliberately walk away from Him. Even then He is just a whisper away, we have to just call on Him!

When you read the thirty-first chapter of Job you find a whole bunch of decisions that Job made in living his life. It’s interesting to read the chapter and look closer at our lives to see if there is anything in it that could be displeasing to God. If there is, all we need to do is to offer a prayer of confession and repent of our shortcomings to God and receive the forgiveness that He so freely gives!

The writer of Proverbs says that when the way of a man is pleasing to God even his enemies live at peace with Him. What a promise!

Declaration: I choose the narrow gate today and everyday.

About this Plan

Following Christ

This Bible plan is perfect for you if you have been wondering how to actually follow Jesus every day. Saying yes to Jesus is the first step of course. What follows though, is a lifelong journey of repeatedly saying yes and keeping in step with Him.
