Day 20: From Intimidation to Boldness:
In Acts 3, we read of a time when Peter and John were on their way to the temple to pray. As they went, they met a lame man who had been disabled since birth. When he saw Peter and John, he asked them for money. Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give to you, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk (Acts 3:6 NIV)!”
The man began walking, jumping, and praising God! He was healed. The people were amazed, and then Peter went on to tell the people it was Jesus who healed him. Acts 4:13 points out that when they saw the courage of Peter and John, they realized they had been with Jesus. Boldness comes from being with Jesus.
When you hang out with Jesus, you become more like him: full of His love and sensitive to His voice when He prompts you to witness or reach out to someone. There are people around us who need Jesus and need the hope we have in Christ. This is your time to rise up and be His hands and feet on the earth. Don’t let fear or intimidation hold you back. He tells us plainly, “‘you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth’” (Acts 1:8, NIV). Spend time with Jesus. Make Him your goal and He will give you boldness which will, in turn, produce results in and through your life.
