Day 5: Shattered Dreams

I LOVE to sing! From birth and into my 30’s, I jumped at every opportunity to “make it big.” Nothing ever worked out. I’ve since learned that the music industry today is no safe place for a Christian. I wanted to be a doctor, so I settled for nursing (still no easy feat). I wanted to be married early – and for life.

On the contrary, I can give a detailed account of each step and pitfall to avoid when getting a divorce in Texas, without one peek into a law book. Life is full of missed opportunities and great disappointments. In hindsight, the most seemingly unfortunate outcomes worked out for my good.

YOU’RE STILL A SUCCESS!

God wants us to please Him, not man, or even ourselves. His perfect will for our lives is whatever happens while we keep our eyes focused on Him. Let your desires be for anything that pleases the Lord, and all other things will fall into place. Sometimes what we want is not good for us, even if it seems innocent. Trust that the Lord knows what is best for you, and He knows better than you know for yourself.

I pray that you have enjoyed this devotional and that it encourages you in hard times. Never forget to praise Him daily, seek His protection, and follow His commands. May the Lord’s Holy Spirit give you comfort in times of trouble, and always keep your eyes steadied on Him, not the trials of this life.
