Some days it is harder than others to say nice things. Some days the silver lining feels basically non-existent. Some days there’s simply not enough coffee to kick things into gear. Can someone say amen? So we let words come out of our mouths that we regret. We let our mood affect our actions. We let pain leak all over innocent bystanders. We squander away time wallowing in self-pity.

All of us need a do-over every now and then. In the moments where our attitude has gotten the best of us, it’s time to reset, remember, and respond.

Reset your thoughts on God’s character. He is everlasting. He is understanding. He does not grow tired or weary. He loves unconditionally, his mercy never ends, and every word he says is true. How can you model God’s character today?

Remember that God is the giver of every gift and he never changes. Our feelings and our circumstances change all the time. But God stays consistent. He is a faithful friend and a steady guide. Name the ways God shows up with good gifts in your life.

Respond with gratitude for God’s love and goodness. Expressing thanks to God is a guaranteed way of keeping our heart in check. Even on our worst days, there is so much to be thankful for. When we approach our days with a spirit of gratitude, negative thoughts, words, and actions are held at bay. What are you thankful for today?

Praise God for his grace and generous gifts in our lives.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for never leaving us when we wander, for never changing when we are fickle, and for your generosity that is beyond our comprehension. May every word we speak, task we accomplish, and song we sing resound with gratitude. Yours is the glory today and always.
