Week of PsalmsSample
Part 1. Preparing your heart to be present with God. Allow yourself a moment in silence; acknowledging God is present with you. This moment can be as long or short as you need it to be to begin to feel settled. Perhaps take some time to acknowledge any to-dos that are taking up space in your mind; write them down or say them out loud. This is a way to clear your mind to be able to be present in the moment.
Part 2. Slowly read through Psalm 46:1-7. Again, please be encouraged to approach scripture with simplicity, with no pressure to immediately grasp every verse accurately.
Part 3. Questions for personal reflection. Give yourself time to journal as you think upon these questions.
- How can this scripture help shape the way you see God?
- Are there any areas in your life where you need to see God as your fortress? If so, invite God in as your protector and safe refuge in those areas.
Part 4. Breath prayers are a simple way to engage with the passage throughout your day. You can take small moments throughout your day to engage with this prayer (consider setting several daily reminders on your phone). This is also a great way to calm yourself when you get flustered amidst the busyness of life.
Breath Prayer:
{inhale}
I am secure...
{exhale}
In Your faithfulness...

About this Plan
This 5-day devotional is made to thoughtfully guide you through five Psalms with the intention of slowing down and discovering more of God. As you go through this series you will be guided through four different ways to interact with scripture and to be present; prepare, read, reflect, and breathe. We also invite you to engage with an accompanying episode of Slo as you go through this devotional.
