Week of PsalmsSample
Part 1. Preparing your heart to be present with God. Allow yourself a moment in silence; acknowledging God is present with you. This moment can be as long or short as you need it to be to begin to feel settled. Perhaps take a moment to roll out your shoulders and allow your body to relax. This can help with being aware of how you feel and with being present in the moment.
Part 2. Slowly read through Psalm 37: 1-11. Allow time for the words to rest in your heart and mind, even repeat some verses or words that may have stuck out to you.
Part 3. Questions for personal reflection. Give yourself time to journal as you think upon these questions.
- What rhythms of living with and for God do you see in Psalm 37:1-11?
- Is there anything that challenges you in this passage? If so, what is it?
- How can you use this passage as a prayer for yourself and for those around you?
Part 4. Breath prayers are a simple way to engage with the passage throughout your day. You can take small moments throughout your day to engage with this prayer (consider setting several daily reminders on your phone). This is also a great way to calm yourself when you get flustered amidst the busyness of life.
Breath Prayer:
{inhale}
I set my gaze...
{exhale}
On You my Lord...

About this Plan
This 5-day devotional is made to thoughtfully guide you through five Psalms with the intention of slowing down and discovering more of God. As you go through this series you will be guided through four different ways to interact with scripture and to be present; prepare, read, reflect, and breathe. We also invite you to engage with an accompanying episode of Slo as you go through this devotional.
