Joy For All SeasonsSample
When others had seen only giants and defeat … Joshua and Caleb had chosen to keep their eyes firmly set upon the strength and power of their God.
When others ignored the voice of God … Joshua and Caleb heard the voice of God.
When others turned tail and ran scared … Joshua and Caleb followed the Lord with their whole heart.
Caleb was now an old man and had yet another choice to make.
Would he put his feet up or would he and Joshua lead the people of God to greater victories?
“I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me to spy out the land, and I brought word back to him as it was in my heart.
My brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt with fear; but I followed the Lord my God fully.
Moses swore on that day, ‘Surely the land on which your foot has trodden will be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God fully.’
“The Lord has let me live, these forty-five years, from the time that the Lord spoke this word to Moses, when Israel walked in the wilderness; and now, I am eighty-five years old today.
I am still as strong today as I was in the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in.
Now, then give me this hill country about which the Lord spoke on that day!” (Joshua 14:7-12a)
On Caleb’s eighty-fifth birthday, he asked God for another mountain!
Caleb declared that his strength had not waned and that he had the courage for more battles and more mountains.
One man … or one woman … when filled with the power of God … can win battles too numerous to count!
What is the mountain to which you have been assigned?
I know that prayers will be answered and that the voice of God will be heard … all because you and I answered the call of Joshua and Caleb at our moment in history.
Joyful Thought to Ponder: Hebrews 11 is the “Hall of Fame” of people of faith. If the Holy Spirit were to write about your life, what would He say?
Practical Application:
