Active Faith

DAY 1 OF 4

"Faith" is a word so familiar in our Christian vocabulary that it has almost lost its significance. Too often, we struggle in our faith and come to a place where we don't expect our prayers to be answered — and certainly not every time. The Lord began to show me that there are two types of faith. Let's take a look at them.

  • An ACTIVE faith
  • A PASSIVE faith

These two faith types are vastly different. It is important that we learn to recognize the difference. A passive faith does not deny the truth of Scripture. Instead, it is quick to say, "Yes, I believe God's Word!" A passive faith too often believes that God can but does not necessarily believe that He will do "it" in a particular situation.

We can easily get into fear because we think faith is too hard. We don't have to prove it, feel it, or perform the miracle! Our part is simple; we are to choose to believe God's Word. It takes active faith to put the Word to work. The eleventh chapter of Hebrews is known as the "faith" chapter, and some Bibles denote "Faith in Action" as the heading above these verses. Take time this week to read this entire chapter and be encouraged as you read of the mighty men and women of God who were recorded in the Hall of Faith.

Do you detect any traces of passive faith in your own life? God wants you to put your faith into action.
