[Ruth] Realizing the Covenant RelationshipSample

[Ruth] Realizing the Covenant Relationship

DAY 3 OF 3

Your Redeemer

The book of Ruth is really important. Why? It has genealogical importance since it shows the genealogy of Obed to David, the ancestor of our Savior Jesus Christ. It has Christological importance since the kinsman redeemer correlates to Christ, our Kinsman Redeemer. It has covenantal importance. It is also essential on a personal level.

The book of Ruth is a book about returning to God. In this book, we see the blessings of being one who returns to God. God's loyal love is displayed throughout the book of Ruth. Moreover, it is a book about refuge and hope. Ruth takes refuge in God and His covenant and hopes for a better future.

We see people of virtue, strong and courageous, who show us that character matters. That obedience brings about abundant blessings from God. Grace was poured out on its protagonists, and it is also poured out on us, over and over again. Boaz was a redeemer to Ruth and Naomi; Christ, who is God, was a Redeemer to Boaz, Ruth, and Naomi, and you and me.

The Redeemer is the one who redeems and restores it all!

As you reflect on the book, ask yourself these questions: How has God worked on you? How has God touched you with this book?

Do you need to return to Him in any area of your life? Are you looking for significance in places other than God?

Do you need a place of refuge? Do you need to see God in the ordinary commonplace activities of daily life? You know He is there. He wants to meet you there.

Have you known His loyal love? Do you need a Redeemer?

What will I take away from Ruth? How will knowing Ruth, Boaz, Naomi, and the Lord better influence me?
