[Ruth] Realizing the Covenant Relationship

DAY 2 OF 3

Lost And Found (Part Two)

Have you ever lost something? We all have. Naomi loses everything at the beginning of the book of Ruth. We follow her attempt to find it using human wisdom until she learns to trust in the Lord, the Redeemer, who restores everything back to her and more.

Through these last verses, we will see the story's conclusion—what was lost has now been found. The plans God had could not be derailed. Through Ruth and Boaz, and their obedience to the covenant, God's promises to Abraham now connect with the promises He will make to King David, Naomi's great, great-grandson.

God had an incredible plan for Boaz to marry Ruth. In the fullness of time, God would give them a son named Obed, who would be the father of Jesse, who would be the father of King David.

Ruth and Boaz were in love with the God of the universe. So, they obeyed Him, and God blessed them abundantly.

God blessed Naomi abundantly---restoring, refreshing, and redeeming what she thought was lost. His purpose was for Naomi to become one of the people who helped raise Obed. What a heritage for someone who thought she had lost everything! She did not deserve any of this, yet the Lord blessed her. He does the same thing with us!

Think of the times when you thought you had lost everything, thought God had forgotten about you, and then He restored and redeemed you.

Do I trust the Lord to show up, redeem, and restore my life? When I feel like I have lost so much and cannot do things with my own strength anymore, do I trust that God has a plan to bless me abundantly if I follow and obey Him?

[Ruth] Realizing the Covenant Relationship

God loves to be personal and intimate with us. There is goodness, mercy, and unconditional love in His house. The Book of Ruth resounds with this message. In the conclusion of our series on Ruth, we will see the full realization of the covenant in the lives of Naomi, Ruth, Boaz, and their descendants. It is a story of redemption for them and for us!
