Through the Bible: MatthewSample
Stay Watchful!
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come, So you all must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Matthew 24:42, 44 (NIV)
Jesus warned against the religious leaders and told the disciples about His return and how they should be prepared for that day. In Jesus’s time, religious leaders were the most powerful and respected but many were rotten due to self-indulgence, their quest for more wealth and status. Their preaching steered people towards rituals but not relationship with God.Today, we must be alert about any false teachings, predictions of the end times, and be mindful of our own hearts, that our faith is based on Christ’s love, hope, mercy and sacrifice for us. While we are waiting for Christ’s second return, we should repent, obey and follow Him, continue to serve those in need and expand Christ’s Kingdom on earth, humbly, diligently and wholeheartedly.
Prayer
Father God, we pray for Your extra anointing upon us, in a world filled with selfishness, deception, love of money and power. We can remain humble and be contented in You, knowing our purpose in life is not of this world, but of heaven’s. Let us not fall into hypocrisy like the Pharisees and be watchful, that we will not be distracted by evils and always choose God as our personal ‘coach’ and saviour. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
With more than fifty citations from the Old Testament, Matthew stands in the gap to unfold the grand drape of the New Testament stage, proclaiming that all messianic prophecies in the past have now been fulfilled in Jesus. The Kingdom of God will now be extended through the building of Christ’s church, and the promise to make Abraham’s descendants numerous will now be fulfilled through the Great Commission.
