Pray & Connect: Praying the Psalms for Your ChildrenSample
Scripture: Read Psalm 34 for the full context of this passage.
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!" Psalm 34:8
Not too long ago on my way to pick up my son from school, I discovered this shiny little wrapper inside my jacket. With much anticipation, I took a bite. Immediately my mouth was bursting with the sweet chocolatey goodness. When I got to my son’s school I couldn’t help but tell my friends of this deliciousness I had just experienced.
I picture the Psalmist also excited to share with those around him the goodness of God he’s experienced. He invites them to experience it for themselves as they rely on Him.
Your children can also “taste and see” the goodness of God as they trust in Him. Even at a young age, they can delight in the goodness of God for themselves.
Let’s pray that our children will not merely have knowledge of God’s Word but would taste and see the goodness of His love.
Pray: O Lord, May {your child's name} taste and see that you are good and take refuge in you. Amen
Connect: Take your child's favorite candy and tell him to close his eyes and guess the candy. Talk about how the more familiar we are with something the easier it is to recognize it. In the same way the more we are in God’s word the more we can recognize His character.
