Love Letters From the King

DAY 6 OF 7

Day Six

God Is Your Comforter

Scripture: Psalm 23:4 and 56:8; Romans 8:26-28

Kingdom Key: Your groans, your sighs, and even your silence are a language God understands. Your hurting heart is heard by Him.

I haven’t a clue what to say to God or to anyone, for that matter. My pain rings in my ears; my silence is enough.

—signed, the girl with hurts louder than words

Hey girl,

You can tell God anything—or you can say nothing at all—and He will still know what your hurt is saying. He explores our hearts. He knows exactly what to prescribe for our wounds, and He is there to help us recuperate.

Cry out the name of Jesus; He is a faithful friend. Lean on Him in times of trouble; He is a peace giver and a joy maker. Allow Him to be your comforter.

Even in your pain, God loves you and calls you to fulfill His purpose. You can’t take the heartache; you can’t take the pain. But He can. He keeps track of every toss and turn as you pound your pillow in frustration. He counts every tear—the ones that make their way onto your pillow and the ones you fiercely wipe away. Let them fall; there’s no need to hold them back. God is your reservoir, collecting the thundering wall of water that threatens to overtake you.

As your tears flow, He is preparing to unleash the floodgates of heaven for your miracle. He promises that you won’t drown as long as you have Him.

Here are words straight from God to you: “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”

—2 Corinthians 1:3–4, NLT

Let’s Pray: Father, I didn’t know my help was already here; thank you for sending me Your Spirit as an interpreter who empowers me in my weakness. Sometimes, I don’t even know what I’m feeling, but it brings me solace to know that You know what I need. I know You are the comforter, but now I need to feel it. Thank you for assuring me that my tears won’t overwhelm You. Thank you for wiping them away with Your love. Become a comforter to me. In Jesus’s name, amen.

About this Plan

Love Letters From the King

No matter how many likes, comments, and direct messages we crave, no one can love us the way God can. Every day in this week-long devotional, you’ll read thoughts and feelings from a girl who might be a lot like you—wrestling with questions, insecurities, and dreams. Then you’ll read truth from God’s Word to remind you of your Heavenly Father who cherishes you—every moment, every day, no matter what.
