Luke: A 10-Day Devotional Reading PlanSample
Get Ready
Zechariah and Elizabeth’s son John is now a full-grown man, and he’s ready to carry out the special ministry he’d been destined for—getting people ready for the arrival of the long-awaited Savior. John soon becomes well known, as he travels around telling people about Jesus—who he is and what he will do. But then John is unjustly thrown in prison, and he fades into the background so that Jesus takes center stage. As Luke brings Jesus to the forefront, we soon discover that Jesus is no ordinary human being. As Mary’s son, he is human, but as God’s Son, he is also divine. Jesus is the only person in history to have both a divine nature and a human nature.
Reflection:
Name a specific time when God’s word strengthened you against temptation or guided you in an important decision or transformed your heart in some way. Jesus knew God’s word so well that he could draw from it in a moment of great need. Identify some practical ways you can make it just as readily available in your own mind and heart so that you can apply it to your circumstances continually.
