They Could NotSample
THEY COULD NOT BUT STAND IN AWE OF HIM.
Today, we wrap up the ‘they could not’ series. Here’s a quick recap of the last 9 days:
- They accused but they could not find any fault in him.
- They could not keep quiet but praised him loudly.
- They crucified him but they could not stop him from intervening.
- They nailed him to the cross but they could not stop him from saving the lost.
- They could not fathom his divine communion with the Father.
- They could not stand in that place to see the righteous One hanging on the cross.
- They could not but admire this champion.
- They could not but express their sincere devotion to the Holy One.
- They placed him in the tomb but they could not keep him there, for He has risen from the dead, He’s alive!
Today, I want to focus on this beautiful passage:
You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. Acts 3:15
In Acts 3 we see how God used his apostles. After Peter heals the crippled beggar (Acts 3: 1-10), He begins to deliver a sermon, he said it’s not by our power or godliness that we healed this lame man, but in the name of Jesus and the faith that comes through him has healed him.
Peter gave this title to Jesus- “author of life”. When all else fades, Christ lives! He’s the author of life. I am sure he remembered this incident, when Jesus replied to Thomas, “I am the way and the truth and the life”. (John 14: 6). He alone is the way to God.
Peter does not end here, he said, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. Here lies the power of our risen Lord! He’s alive! They witnessed that which was true and amazing. We still witness the resurrection power of our Lord. Praise God! This is our calling to witness what Christ has done on the cross. Let us not be ignorant and not grow weary in taking the Good News but do it in the power of our risen Lord.
Take away:
This Author of Life, Jesus, will enable you to sustain your faith.
THEY COULD NOT BUT STAND IN AWE OF HIM.
