The Prince of Peace

STORY
As a kid, I was terrified of being home alone. One time, my parents went to a Christmas party and I was so scared of being home without them that I called and told them to come home early, even though my sisters didn’t want me to. As soon as they got home, even though they weren’t too happy, I didn’t feel scared anymore. 

Have you ever been home alone, or in your room at night and been really scared? So scared that you scream for your mom or dad to come? Being alone or in the dark can be so scary, but as soon as mom or dad come into the room you feel better. 

SCRIPTURE
Read Isaiah 9:6.

THINK
In this Bible verse, the prophet Isaiah is telling Israel about a King that is going to come to earth, and one of His titles is, “Prince of Peace.” Isaiah was talking about Jesus! 

Jesus is the Prince of Peace because in His kingdom He brings peace over everything ever created! But wait . . . what about things today that aren’t peaceful? Good question! Not until Jesus comes back to earth will all things be totally peaceful. But until then, Jesus says we can have a relationship with Him and have peace even when things happen that don’t feel peaceful. When we accept Jesus into our heart, His Spirit comes to live with us, inside our heart. Remember how we talked about when mom and dad come into our room, we feel better, at peace,  and not scared anymore? Well, because Jesus lives in our hearts, He is always with us, speaking to us, comforting us, teaching us, and giving us His peace.

The world without a savior felt unpeaceful for Israel, but God promised to bring His Son as the Prince of Peace so that they would have peace with God and each other. Jesus is our peace! Christmas is a great time to remember and celebrate that.

PRAY
Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus as the Prince of Peace. I am so glad that You promise we can have peace no matter what because of Jesus. Amen.
