Ever-Present PeaceSample
Happy Faces - Hurting Hearts
Do you ever feel as if everyone around you is peaceful? Behind the happy and smiling faces you see on social media are hurting hearts. Unrest, sadness, and lack of peace is real.
Everyone experiences times of heartache; times when they have no peace. Sadness and fear may wear us down, even though we try to hide these emotions. Sometimes life hurts. The good news is that we have a God who gives us peace!
Every day, God wants to give you a hopeful and worry-free heart. This kind of peace comes from God’s Holy Spirit. God loves YOU just as you are. When you trust Jesus, the Prince of Peace, as your Savior, the Holy Spirit enters your heart and frees you to live a Godly and hope-filled life.
As Christians, we have an ever-present peace in our hearts, knowing that God will never leave or forsake us.
Romans 15:13 states, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and PEACE as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Christians can have peace because the Holy Spirit of God lives within them. What a wonderful promise!
You can’t see the Holy Spirit with your eyes, but you can hear His “voice.” The Holy Spirit doesn’t speak words; rather, He speaks by whispering thoughts and promptings into your mind and heart. Sometimes He warns you when you are about to sin. Other times His “voice” encourages you to make a good choice or to be kind to someone who is lonely or sad.
The Holy Spirit also gives you peace as you obey God and trust Him in all things. Do you spend time with God when you have no peace or are hurting?
While Jesus lived on earth, people felt peace when He was near and when they heard Him speak. But Jesus knew He wouldn’t be with them forever. Soon He would complete His ministry and return to His Father.
John 14:16 reads, “If you love Me, obey Me; and I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, and He will never leave you.” It is reassuring to know that when Jesus left this earth, the Holy Spirit came to never leave us.
We see this promise in John 14:26-27: “But when the Father sends the Comforter instead of Me, and by Comforter, I mean the Holy Spirit. He will teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I Myself have told you. I am leaving you with a gift, peace of mind, and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So, don’t be troubled or afraid.”
Every day ask God’s Holy Spirit to fill you with His peace—the peace that passes all understanding.

About this Plan
Psalm 139:23-24 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” If you actually prayed what these verses say and listened for God’s response, how would it change the way you treat others?
