DAY 4 OF 5

Purpose Over Perfection

God created us with a purpose. We are well equipped and capable of accomplishing big goals. He placed fervent passion inside our hearts. As children of God, He created us to be victors, not victims. The Word says that He takes us from glory to glory. We were never meant to stay the same. We are daily transforming into the likeness of Christ.

Through my first years of motherhood, I chose to stay home until my children were in school full-time. This was hard; it required trusting God with our finances and my career goals. As mothers, we want to be there for our children, but we also know we have other gifts and callings that God wants us to use.

Motherhood is not easy. It requires long hours and sacrifice. No one hands us a paycheck for this job. But our work is not in vain.

Trust God with each season. Your purpose did not die when you became a mother; it just expanded. Motherhood is part of your purpose. Continue writing your goals and envisioning a better version of yourself, but live and learn from your present. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “Everything on earth has its own time and its own season.”

Mamas, we were called to be good stewards, not lazy ones. We were called to work, whether at home or in the workforce. The Scriptures say to do our work willingly, as though we were serving the Lord Himself.

Live your season on purpose. This may not be the time to focus on returning to your pre-baby weight, but it might be the perfect moment to find community with other mothers. If your children are grown, perhaps you are entering a new season and are ready to go back to work. Whatever your season, remind yourself that God enables you to fulfill His purposes in your life.

Proverbs 31:27 is inspirational. It says, “She takes good care of her family and is never lazy. Her children praise her, and with great pride, her husband says, ‘There are many good women, but you are the best!’” Each season, our walk is not about perfection, but about purpose. I too doubted through some seasons, but Christ is the Giver of peace and hope. God always opens the right doors at the right time. Run to Jesus full force, and His Spirit will guide you through each season of mom life.
