DAY 22 OF 82

2KINGS 5-6:
Yesterday in 2nd Kings we heard of the many miracles done by Elisha— supplying water for three armies on their way to Moab for war, helping the widow of a prophet, blessing the woman from Shunem, purifying Jericho's water, and miraculously transforming food.

PSALM 125:
The first verse of today’s poem, Psalm 125, is one that our family has sung for years. Gale and I learned this song from a cassette tape that came from a Canadian church called St. Margaret’s, a place we have never visited. At that time (around 1977) we were teachers in Papua New Guinea and our David was two. Those who trust in the Lord are secure!

JOHN 11b:
Reminding us of what we heard in John 10: Our Shepherd calls us by name. He knows us thoroughly, just like He and the Father know each other. He goes before us and leads us into a rich and satisfying life. He is our great and good Shepherd because He was willing to sacrifice his life for us. And today we return to chapter 11, to the conversation with Martha.

Let’s pray.
Our Lord Jesus, we praise You as the bread of life. You satisfy our spiritual hunger completely and forever. Fill us also, Lord, with your living water. You are the light of the world. Shine on us Lord, and may the whole world see your glory. You are the gate by which we enter into fullness of life. Lord, thank You, help us point the way so that other sheep may enter into your sheepfold. And You are our great shepherd. We praise You that You call us by name and that we are secure in your care. Lord, we are as clueless as sheep. Thank You for your rod and staff, by which you guide and discipline us. And You are the resurrection and the life. You promise us that we will live eternally and never die spiritually. We no longer need to fear death. In the darkest situations in this life, we have the brightest comfort and hope. How can we show our thankfulness to You today?
